Cyberbullying (Grade/ Age: 6-7th Grade)

  • DAY 1
Objective: Students will be able to understand what cyber bullying is and identify the different types of cyber bullying.
  • 9:00-9:05 a.m. - Ask students what they know about cyber bullying.
  • 9:05-9:10 a.m. - Pass out 'Cyber Bullying" survey and have them complete it.
  • 9:10-9:40 a.m. - Discuss the different types of cyber bullying with slideshow presentation.
  • 9:40-9:50 a.m. - End class with an anonymous questionnaire of what types of social media students in the class use.

  • DAY 2
Objective: Students will form groups and pick a type of cyber bullying that they will present later on in the week.
  • 9:00-9:10 a.m, - Review types of cyber bullying discussed last class.
  • 9:10-9:15 a.m. - Form groups, pull number (1-3) from hat. Total of 6 groups of 5. There will be duplicated types of cyber bullying.
  • 9:15-9:20 a.m. - Groups will pick stick from a cup with topic on it.
  • 9:20-9:30 a.m. - Groups will then discuss their topic and figure out how they want to present it to the class either by; a play, poster, power point presentation, etc.
  • 9:30-9:40 a.m. - Groups will meet with doppelganger group and see if anything was left out in either discussion.
  • 9:40- 9:50 a.m. - Regroup as a class, pack up, and give a brief about next class period.

  • DAY 3
Objective: Students will be able to understand ways to prevent cyber bullying and relate it to their type of bullying.
  • 9:00-9:20 a.m. - Presentation of ways to prevent cyber bullying
  • 9:20-9:50 a.m. - Students will get into their group and collaborate what they want their presentation to have in it.

  • DAY 4
Objective: Students will finish up creating their presentation (5 minutes per presentation)
  • 9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. - Students will have entire period to practice, edit, and wrap up their 5 minute presentation for the next class period. The teacher will be available for questions and help if the students need it.
  • 9:30 a.m -9:50 a.m - Students will participate in secret letter activity. Students will pick a name of the person to write to. The letter will tell positive things what they like about the individual and the teacher will keep the letters untill tomorrow to pass them out.

  • DAY 5
Objective: Students will present their presentation within 5 minutes and the other groups will be able to identify what type of cyber bullying they are mimicking and what can be done to prevent it.
  • 9:00-9:30 a.m. - Students will present their presentation. Other students will fill out an evaluation sheet for that group as to; what type of bullying is being acted out, 2 or more ways to prevent it, and a compliment to the group and their efforts.
  • 9:30-9:50 a.m. Pass out evaluation sheets to their respective group. Ask what they learned, what they liked about the different groups, and if they are ready to be up standers to bullying by pledging online against cyber-bullying and pass out secret letters.
